San Joaquin General Hospital
In operation since 1857, San Joaquin General Hospital boasts a state-of-the art intensive care unit and operating room suite, and is the local leader in obstetrical deliveries and neonatal services. The hospital has a long tradition of training health care professionals. It sponsors four residency programs (which train 57 residents each year for careers in general surgery, internal medicine, and family medicine) and a one-year transitional residency program (which prepares residents for careers in anesthesiology, radiology, plastic surgery and other specialties.) During large-scale disasters, the hospital serves as the regional disaster control facility for an 11-county region, coordinating the manpower and hospital resources to address patient needs.
