Regional Medical Center at Memphis
In operation since 1829, the Regional Medical Center at Memphis (“The MED”) is Tennessee's oldest hospital. The acute-care facility offers high-quality care to all who need it within a 150-mile radius of Memphis. Its main campus has five Centers of Excellence. The Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center, established in 1983, is one of the busiest Level 1 trauma centers in the U.S. More than 300 severely burned adolescents and adults are treated annually at the hospital’s Firefighters Regional Burn Center. As the teaching hospital for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, The MED has trained more than half of the state’s physicians. The MED’s “Health Loop”—a network of 10 community-based primary care clinics—logs more than 60,000 visits each year.
