Wishard Health Services
Wishard Health Services is the public hospital division of the Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County. The hospital has provided high-quality health care for 150 years, evolving from a hospital built during a smallpox epidemic into a comprehensive health care system. As a teaching hospital of the Indiana School of Medicine, more than two thirds of Indiana’s physicians have trained at Wishard. The hospital operates a Level 1 trauma center, the only adult burn center serving central and southern Indiana, and the busiest emergency department in the state. In addition, Wishard’s Medical-Legal Partnership is the first program of its kind in Indiana that improves health care by pooling resources from doctors, lawyers and social workers.
